In general, one finds, for example, that people suffering from bipolar disorder tends to :

  • reject rules
  • refuse authority
  • disrespect hierarchy

His « Rebel » side and his « unmanageable creativity » don't work well in all professions or in all companies.

It is therefore a good idea to think about what type of jobs work well for a bipolar or cyclothymic person, like for example:

A number of parameters and constraints are taken into account: stability of your condition, autonomy, work load, maximum stress level, quality of relationship, but also values and culture of the company ... As many axes to study for finding a job that suits you best:

  • Working from home, Working on Internet
  • Work on the phone (call center, phone calls, ...)
  • Salaried employees with strong autonomy and independence
  • Freelance Work, Entrepreneurs
  • Artistic and creative environments (publicity, fashion, design, ...)
  • Work with a strong relational dimension (commercial, events, communication, media, ...)
  • Very "cool" businesses with an Anglo-Saxon or American style of management

 

For people suffering from anxiety disorders, Obsessive-compulsive disorders, it might be advantageous to adapt its work.

As a choice in job re-orientation and adjustment or as a temporary measure while the disorders stabilize, the patient may prefer, for example:

  • Working from home
  • Working on Internet
  • Work on the phone (call center, phone calls, ...)
